SNICKERS: You’re Not You When You’re Hungry

Threeblindmice were lucky to work with Producer, Carol Powell and her assistant, Miles Angell at AMV BBDO on this delicious 2D animatic!

We were approached by Carol and her team to produce an animatic for the latest Snickers TV campaign, using the famous tag line ‘You’re Not You When You’re Hungry’ along with Dynasty actress and well-known Diva, Joan Collins.

Set in a men’s changing room, Collins accuses a football team-mate of stealing her deodorant. She is handed a Snickers bar because she is “acting like a diva” before transforming back into a football player.

Visualising artist, Bill drew and coloured each of the frames before our house team animated them. He had originally created a few different variations of Joan, from more life-like to caricature:

Besides a few script changes, the AMV team also added a second Dynasty actress (not originally featured in the animatic) – local Bad Girl, Stephen Beacham! However, generally speaking our 2D animatic was a close pre-viz of the finished advert – check out these still comparisons:

And, of course, watch the finished ad produced by AMV BBDO here! We love it!

The finished commercial has received plenty of positive press attention, including a brilliant behind the scenes article in the Daily Mail and Pick Of The Week in advertising trade magazine, Campaign:

Kids’ Party With A Purpose

For the last couple of years TBM has been striving to achieve ever-higher standards of artistic integrity and realism in our visualising and animatics, as clients desires and expectations rise higher and higher.

This means that we need better reference – particularly for children – that is more realistic than ever before.

Kids Party With A Purpose

Kids Party With A Purpose

Traditionally, when we are working on a photo-real project a lot of our production time can be spent searching for shots of children to be cast and then signed off by client before proceeding. Time, which would be better spent on finishing the job!

How to solve this problem? Throw a Party! Of course!!

Debbie

Our Uber-Producer Debbie had the inspired idea of throwing a children’s party inside our local friendly photo-studio (the fantastic Studio 66). That way we could take loads of reference shots of our lovely sprogs for potential forthcoming jobs whilst distracting them with numerous games of Twister, Connect 4, Music, Dancing, Cake and loads of other lovely treats.

Kids Party With A Purpose

The whole afternoon was a roaring success, the kids had a wonderful time and the next time you commission Three Blind Mice, you may well up with one of our kids featuring in your research or pitch project.

End Frames

We at threeblindmice know how important it is to show product placement in our visualizing particularly in end frames.
Here are a few of Threeblindmice’s successful animatic end frames. If you look closely you might see some resemblance to the finished advert.

flora advert

Flora: XBOX Kinect
Our motion team worked with Lucy Swallow at KROW communication to produce this great animatic. Artists Paul D, Martin B and Mark O lined and coloured frames, whilst our in house editing team – lead by Sam – animated it all together – we even recreated the games footage!

colmans advert

Colmans Beef Gravy
Threeblindmice worked with Dave Graham and his team at Karmarama to produce this fantastic animatic of a dancing gravy bull. Our dancing Bull had to have attitude, great dance moves and most of all he had to look like gravy. Challenge accepted!

Kit kat advert

Kit Kat Crane.
JWT developed the brilliant concept for their clients, KitKat and briefed us with frames and direction. House artists, Paul and Aaron drew and coloured the frames, which were then edited together by head of motion Sam.
